PINTA 745

PINTA 745 is a recombinant fusion protein classified as a peptibody that functions as a myostatin inhibitor. It was developed to bind and inhibit myostatin, thereby blocking the negative regulation of skeletal muscle growth. The drug was investigated primarily for the treatment of protein energy wasting (PEW) in patients with end-stage renal disease (ESRD), aiming to increase muscle mass and improve metabolic parameters. Preclinical studies suggested benefits in insulin sensitivity and fat metabolism, but clinical trials did not demonstrate efficacy on primary endpoints such as lean body mass or physical function. As a result, development has been discontinued[1][2][5][7].
