Overview

Pinus koraiensis Bark Procyanidins Extract (PKBPE) is a natural product derived from the bark of Pinus koraiensis, a plant traditionally used in Chinese medicine for thousands of years. Preclinical studies have demonstrated its antitumor activities, specifically in mice bearing U14 cervical cancer. PKBPE inhibits tumor growth by enhancing the activity of superoxide dismutase (SOD) and decreasing malondialdehyde (MDA) content, suggesting an antioxidant mechanism involving the inhibition of free radical production. Furthermore, it significantly inhibits the expression of Ki-67, mutant p53, and Bcl-2 proteins, which are involved in cell proliferation and apoptosis.
