Overview

Pinus monticola pollen is an allergenic extract derived from the Western White Pine (*Pinus monticola*). It is a biologic product used primarily for the diagnostic identification of Type I hypersensitivity to Western White Pine pollen. The extract contains various proteins that, when applied via skin prick or intradermal testing, cross-link allergen-specific IgE on mast cells, leading to a localized wheal-and-flare reaction in sensitized individuals. Approved by the FDA under BLAs 101833 and 102192, it is manufactured by specialized allergy laboratories for use in clinical immunology.
