PIPA solution

PIPA solution is a sterile red blood cell rejuvenation processing solution containing sodium pyruvate, inosine, adenine, dibasic sodium phosphate, and monobasic sodium phosphate. The marketed U.S. product is **Rejuvesol**, which is used only extracorporeally: stored red blood cell units are incubated with the solution before washing and transfusion. Its metabolic substrates replenish erythrocyte ATP and 2,3-diphosphoglycerate, helping reverse storage-associated metabolic loss and restore oxygen-release capacity.
