**Taiper** is an Italian prescription fixed-dose antibacterial product containing the extended-spectrum ureidopenicillin **piperacillin** and the beta-lactamase inhibitor **tazobactam**. Piperacillin covalently inhibits bacterial penicillin-binding proteins, disrupting peptidoglycan cross-linking and bacterial cell-wall synthesis; tazobactam inhibits susceptible beta-lactamases and protects piperacillin from enzymatic degradation. It is marketed by Errekappa Euroterapici as powder and solvent for intramuscular injection and as powder for intravenous infusion for serious susceptible bacterial infections, including severe pneumonia, complicated urinary tract infections, complicated intra-abdominal infections, complicated skin and soft-tissue infections, associated bacteremia, and febrile neutropenia.
