Drug intelligence / Profile preview
**Piprinhydrinate** is a first-generation histamine H1-receptor antihistamine supplied as the salt of diphenylpyraline and 8-chlorotheophylline. Its clinically relevant antiallergic activity is principally mediated by diphenylpyraline antagonism of the histamine H1 receptor; 8-chlorotheophylline is a xanthine component included to mitigate antihistamine-associated sedation. Piprinhydrinate has been marketed outside the United States for allergic conditions and motion sickness. ([drugs.ncats.io](https://drugs.ncats.io/drug/SI78RFJ7XI))
