Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Pira-VG is an oral fixed-dose combination tablet developed and marketed by Sanrey Therapeutics as a cognitive enhancer and neuroprotective agent. It contains three active ingredients: Ginkgo biloba extract (60 mg), piracetam (800 mg), and vinpocetine (5 mg). Ginkgo biloba and piracetam act synergistically to improve cerebral blood flow, enhance microcirculation, and protect neurons from oxidative stress and free radical damage. Piracetam, a cyclic GABA derivative, modulates neurotransmission (particularly cholinergic and glutamatergic systems) and restores neuronal membrane fluidity. Vinpocetine, a synthetic derivative of the vinca alkaloid vincamine, acts as a cerebral vasodilator and metabolic enhancer by inhibiting phosphodiesterase type 1 (PDE1) and blocking voltage-gated sodium channels, thereby increasing brain oxygenation and glucose utilization. Pira-VG is primarily indicated for the management of cognitive impairment, memory enhancement, and neurological disorders associated with aging or cerebrovascular insufficiency.
