Overview

**pirarubicin + ifosfamide** is a combination chemotherapy regimen primarily used in the treatment of soft tissue sarcoma. Pirarubicin is an anthracycline antibiotic similar to doxorubicin, acting mainly by intercalating into DNA and inhibiting topoisomerase II, resulting in DNA damage and apoptosis in rapidly dividing cells. Ifosfamide is an alkylating agent that causes cross-linking of DNA strands, disrupting DNA replication and cell division. This combination has been studied alongside other agents (notably etoposide) as an alternative to doxorubicin-based therapies, showing comparable response rates but with significant hematological toxicities such as leukopenia, anemia, and thrombocytopenia. The main route of administration is intravenous infusion[1][2].
