Drug intelligence / Profile preview
A combination chemotherapy regimen consisting of pirarubicin (an anthracycline antibiotic) and vinorelbine (a semi-synthetic vinca alkaloid). This combination is used primarily in the treatment of locally advanced breast cancer (LABC), particularly in elderly patients. The regimen works through dual mechanisms: pirarubicin intercalates with DNA and inhibits topoisomerase II, while vinorelbine interferes with tubulin polymerization, disrupting mitotic spindle formation and preventing cell division.
