Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Pirbuterol is a short-acting beta-2 adrenergic agonist and bronchodilator used for the symptomatic treatment and prevention of bronchospasm in patients with asthma and other obstructive lung diseases such as chronic bronchitis and emphysema. It acts by selectively stimulating beta-2 adrenergic receptors in bronchial smooth muscle, leading to relaxation of the airways and improved airflow. Pirbuterol is typically administered via oral inhalation as an aerosol. It does not cure underlying disease but provides rapid relief from acute symptoms such as wheezing or shortness of breath[1][2][3][4][5].
