Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Piroxicam cinnamate, also known as Cinnoxicam, is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) of the oxicam class. It acts as a cyclooxygenase (COX) inhibitor, targeting both COX1 and COX2 enzymes to reduce the synthesis of prostaglandins involved in pain and inflammation. Piroxicam cinnamate is used primarily for the treatment of pain and inflammation associated with rheumatic disorders such as osteoarthritis and other inflammatory-degenerative osteoarticular diseases. It has been marketed in Italy by SPA for these indications. The drug is considered a long-acting prodrug form of piroxicam, designed to improve tolerability while maintaining efficacy[1][3][4][5].
