Pitamega

Pitamega (KI-1114) is a fixed-dose combination (FDC) therapy developed by Kuhnil Pharmaceutical for the treatment of hyperlipidemia, specifically targeting patients with mixed dyslipidemia or hypertriglyceridemia. It combines pitavastatin, a potent HMG-CoA reductase inhibitor (statin), with omega-3-acid ethyl esters. Pitavastatin works by inhibiting hepatic cholesterol synthesis and upregulating LDL receptors, thereby lowering LDL-C levels. Omega-3-acid ethyl esters primarily reduce serum triglyceride levels by inhibiting diacylglycerol O-acyltransferase (DGAT), increasing mitochondrial and peroxisomal beta-oxidation of fatty acids, and decreasing the hepatic synthesis and secretion of very-low-density lipoproteins (VLDL).
