Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Pitapenocol (also known as Pitapenocol SR Tab or MMP-326) is an oral, fixed-dose combination therapy developed by MyungMoon Bio for the treatment of mixed dyslipidemia. It combines pitavastatin calcium, an HMG-CoA reductase inhibitor (statin), with choline fenofibrate, a peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor alpha (PPAR-alpha) agonist (fibrate). Pitavastatin calcium works by inhibiting cholesterol synthesis in the liver, thereby lowering low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) levels. Choline fenofibrate, which is converted to its active metabolite fenofibric acid in the body, stimulates lipoprotein lipase activity to reduce triglyceride (TG) levels and increase high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C) levels. The sustained-release formulation of pitapenocol allows for consistent drug absorption regardless of food intake, improving patient compliance and convenience. Pitapenocol was approved in South Korea in February 2026 and launched in May 2026.
