Drug intelligence / Profile preview
pitavastatin + ezetimibe + amlodipine + valsartan is a four-drug fixed-dose combination (FDC) therapy being developed by JW Jungwoo Pharmaceutical for the management of patients with both hyperlipidemia and hypertension. This 4-in-1 small molecule combination integrates four distinct mechanisms of action: pitavastatin, an HMG-CoA reductase inhibitor (statin) that reduces endogenous cholesterol synthesis; ezetimibe, which inhibits the Niemann-Pick C1-like 1 (NPC1L1) protein to block intestinal cholesterol absorption; amlodipine, a dihydropyridine calcium channel blocker (CCB) that induces vasodilation; and valsartan, an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB) that inhibits the renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system. By combining these agents into a single tablet, the therapy aims to improve medication adherence and provide synergistic control of blood pressure and lipid levels, thereby reducing the overall risk of cardiovascular disease. The product is currently in Phase 3 clinical trials.
