Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Pituitary adenylate cyclase-activating polypeptide (PACAP) siRNA is a small interfering RNA designed to selectively silence the expression of the ADCYAP1 gene, which encodes the PACAP neuropeptide. PACAP is a neuropeptide involved in immune and fibrotic regulation, and its upregulation has been implicated in chronic inflammatory conditions such as Hunner-type interstitial cystitis (HIC). In preclinical models, transfection with PACAP siRNA downregulates proinflammatory cytokines (such as IL-6, IL-1β, and TNF-α) and profibrotic mediators, thereby reducing cell proliferation and migration. This siRNA is primarily utilized as a research reagent to investigate the role of PACAP in inflammatory and fibrotic pathways.
