Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Pivit is a topical combination pharmaceutical product formulated as a cream, primarily indicated for the symptomatic relief of pain, itching, and burning associated with hemorrhoids and other anorectal disorders. It contains two active ingredients: pramoxine hydrochloride and zinc oxide. Pramoxine hydrochloride is a local anesthetic of the morpholine class that functions by decreasing the permeability of the neuronal membrane to sodium ions, thereby blocking the initiation and conduction of nerve impulses. Zinc oxide acts as a skin protectant and astringent, providing a physical barrier that protects irritated tissue from external contact and reduces inflammation. Developed and marketed by Method Pharmaceuticals, Pivit is used to provide temporary relief from local discomfort and to protect the perianal area.
