Piyanling liniment is a topical pharmaceutical preparation developed by the 71st Group Army Hospital of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (CPLA), formerly known as the 97th Hospital. It is a hospital-made preparation (医院制剂) specifically formulated for the treatment of chronic inflammatory and pruritic skin conditions, including neurodermatitis and chronic eczema. The formulation typically functions as a combination therapy, utilizing a corticosteroid (such as dexamethasone) to provide potent anti-inflammatory and immunosuppressive effects, alongside antipruritic agents like camphor and menthol which offer cooling and soothing relief from itching. It may also contain salicylic acid for its keratolytic properties, which help to soften and remove thickened skin scales. As a liniment (spirit-based solution), it is designed for topical application to facilitate the penetration of active ingredients into the affected dermal layers.
