Drug intelligence / Profile preview
PJ017 is a preclinical-stage PEGylated recombinant L-asparaginase mutant being developed by Chongqing Peg-Bio Biopharm for the treatment of solid tumors (malignant tumors other than leukemia). Designed using computer simulation to obtain an innovative asparaginase mutant, the enzyme is subsequently modified via site-specific PEGylation to improve its pharmacokinetic profile and reduce immunogenicity. PJ017 acts by depleting circulating L-asparagine, an essential amino acid that certain tumor cells cannot synthesize endogenously, thereby starving the tumor cells and inhibiting their growth.
