Drug intelligence / Profile preview
PJ019 is a pegylated recombinant human interleukin-11 (PEG-rhIL-11) being developed by Chongqing Peg-Bio Biopharm. It is intended for the treatment and prevention of chemotherapy-induced thrombocytopenia (CIT) in patients receiving myelosuppressive combined chemotherapy. Interleukin-11 (IL-11) is a pleiotropic cytokine and a thrombopoietic growth factor that stimulates the proliferation of hematopoietic stem cells and megakaryocyte progenitor cells, as well as the maturation of megakaryocytes, leading to increased peripheral platelet production. By attaching a polyethylene glycol (PEG) moiety to the recombinant protein, PJ019 achieves a prolonged half-life and improved pharmacokinetic profile compared to non-pegylated rhIL-11 (oprelvekin), potentially allowing for less frequent dosing and reduced immunogenicity.
