PJS-539

PJS-539 is an oral small molecule antiviral drug developed by Covicept Therapeutics for the treatment of COVID-19. It operates through a host-dependent mechanism of action designed to inhibit the attachment, infection, and replication of SARS-CoV-2 and other RNA viruses. By targeting host pathways rather than viral proteins directly, PJS-539 aims to provide broad-spectrum antiviral activity and minimize the risk of viral resistance. The drug has demonstrated high biodistribution to lung tissues and good tolerability in humans. A Phase 2 multi-center, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled clinical trial was conducted in Brazil, led by Hospital do Coração (HCor), to evaluate its efficacy in reducing viral load in adult patients with mild-to-moderate COVID-19.
