Overview

PK-10571 is an inhaled small molecule kinase inhibitor targeting the Platelet-Derived Growth Factor Receptor (PDGFR), currently under development by Pulmokine for the treatment of pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH). The drug is designed to inhibit the PDGFR signaling pathway, which is a key driver of the pathological cellular proliferation and vascular remodeling that characterizes PAH. By utilizing an inhaled route of administration, PK-10571 is intended to deliver the therapeutic agent directly to the pulmonary vasculature, thereby maximizing local efficacy while minimizing the systemic side effects typically associated with oral PDGFR inhibitors like imatinib. The development of PK-10571 has been supported by the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI) through a Vascular Interventions and Therapeutic Advances (VITA) contract to fund IND-enabling studies.
