Overview

PKL200 (also known as INT-223) is an engineered endolysin biologic developed by iNtRON Biotechnology using its proprietary itLysin® platform. It is specifically designed for the decolonization of Carbapenem-Resistant Enterobacteriaceae (CRE) within the intestinal tract. PKL200 functions by targeting and enzymatically degrading the peptidoglycan layer of Gram-negative bacteria, leading to rapid osmotic lysis and cell death. The drug candidate has demonstrated broad-spectrum activity against several high-priority pathogens, including *Klebsiella pneumoniae*, *Acinetobacter baumannii*, *Pseudomonas aeruginosa*, and *Enterobacter cloacae*. In addition to intestinal decolonization, PKL200 is being explored for the treatment of pneumonia and urinary tract infections caused by uropathogenic *Escherichia coli* (UPEC).
