PKTX-001

PKTX-001 is an orally bioavailable, potent, and selective small molecule agonist of the G protein-coupled receptor 119 (GPR119). Developed by Pankreatix, the compound was primarily investigated for the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus. GPR119 is expressed in pancreatic beta cells and intestinal enteroendocrine cells; its activation stimulates the glucose-dependent secretion of insulin and the release of incretin hormones such as glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) and glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide (GIP). This dual mechanism of action aims to improve glycemic control while potentially preserving beta-cell function. Although PKTX-001 showed promise in preclinical models, its clinical development appears to have stalled following early-stage evaluations.
