Overview

PL-200031 is a first-in-class humanized monoclonal antibody (IgG1) being developed by Peptide Logic LLC for the treatment of female-prevalent pain disorders. The drug targets and neutralizes prolactin (PRL), a hormone that has been demonstrated to elicit female-selective nociceptor sensitization and increase pain-like behaviors in female animals. PL-200031 has sub-nanomolar affinity for human prolactin and produces concentration-dependent and complete inhibition of prolactin signaling at the prolactin receptor. It is selective for human prolactin and does not inhibit other prolactin receptor agonists such as human growth hormone or placental lactogen. Currently in preclinical development, PL-200031 represents a novel approach to treating functional pain syndromes that disproportionately affect women.
