Overview

PL 200039 is a first-in-class humanized monoclonal antibody of the IgG4 isotype developed by Peptide Logic LLC for the treatment of female-prevalent pain disorders and functional pain syndromes. The drug acts by neutralizing human prolactin (PRL), a hormone demonstrated to cause female-selective nociceptor sensitization and increased pain-like behaviors. PL 200039 possesses sub-nanomolar affinity for human prolactin and provides complete, concentration-dependent inhibition of prolactin signaling at its receptor. It is highly selective, showing no inhibition of other prolactin receptor agonists such as human growth hormone or placental lactogen. Currently in preclinical development, the antibody has been engineered for a long clearance half-life, potentially offering a sustained therapeutic effect for conditions that disproportionately affect women.
