Overview

PL-3301 is a synthetic antimicrobial peptide drug developed by ProteLight Pharma (also referred to as Jiangsu ProteLight Pharmaceutical and Biotechnology). It is a first-in-class, de-novo designed peptide with broad-spectrum antifungal and antibacterial properties. The drug acts primarily by targeting and disrupting microbial cell membranes, leading to the death of pathogenic cells. Its mechanism involves direct interaction with fungal membranes to induce disruption or rupture. Preclinical studies have demonstrated efficacy against various strains of oropharyngeal candida, including antibiotic-resistant forms. The compound is being developed for infectious diseases such as candidiasis (including oropharyngeal candidiasis), skin and soft tissue infections, and certain lung disorders. It features high specificity, low toxicity, strong biological activity at low doses, and aims to address issues related to antibiotic resistance[1][2][3].
