The formulation is composed of 0.3% glycerin and 1.0% propylene glycol, which function as ocular lubricants and demulcents rather than active pharmaceutical agents. In the context of the trial, these drops were used to establish a baseline for ocular symptoms following a nasal allergen challenge, allowing researchers to isolate the effects of active treatments like olopatadine and fluticasone furoate.
