Overview

PL1000 is a non-lipidated peptide melanocortin 4 receptor (MC4R) agonist being developed by Palatin Technologies for the treatment of rare and syndromic obesity disorders, such as hypothalamic obesity, Prader-Willi syndrome, and Bardet-Biedl syndrome. Administered via once-weekly subcutaneous injection, PL1000 is designed as a long-acting therapy, with ongoing efforts to optimize a controlled-release formulation. Unlike first-generation MC4R agonists, PL1000 demonstrates potent MC4R agonist activity without activating the melanocortin 1 receptor (MC1R), which is intended to minimize or eliminate MC1R-mediated hyperpigmentation side effects.
