Drug intelligence / Profile preview
PL2000 is a lipidated peptide compound being developed by Palatin Technologies as a selective melanocortin-4 receptor (MC4R) agonist for the treatment of rare and syndromic obesity disorders, including hypothalamic obesity, Prader-Willi syndrome, and Bardet-Biedl syndrome. Designed as a long-acting subcutaneous therapy suitable for chronic treatment, PL2000 has demonstrated potent MC4R agonist activity in preclinical studies without acting as an agonist at the melanocortin-1 receptor (MC1R), a selectivity intended to minimize or eliminate MC1R-mediated hyperpigmentation. In preclinical models, PL2000 has shown significant dose-dependent reductions in food intake and body weight. Palatin Technologies plans to file an Investigational New Drug (IND) application for PL2000 in the first half of 2027, with Phase I clinical data expected in the second half of 2027.
