PL225B

PL225B is an orally bioavailable small molecule inhibitor of the insulin-like growth factor 1 receptor (IGF-1R). It selectively binds to and inhibits IGF-1R, leading to inhibition of tumor cell proliferation and induction of apoptosis in IGF-1R-overexpressing tumor cells. The drug was initially developed by Piramal Phytocare and has been investigated primarily for its antineoplastic activity in solid tumors. Its mechanism involves antagonism of the IGF-1R tyrosine kinase, thereby blocking downstream signaling pathways that promote cancer cell survival and growth. Clinical development reached Phase 1 trials for advanced refractory solid tumors but is currently suspended[1][2][3][4][5][7].
