PLAAT2 siRNA-1 is a specific small interfering RNA (siRNA) sequence designed to silence the expression of the **Phospholipase A and Acyltransferase 2 (PLAAT2)** gene. PLAAT2, also known as HRASLS2, is an enzyme involved in lipid metabolism that has been identified as a key facilitator of pancreatic cancer progression, including tumor cell proliferation and invasion. Research indicates that PLAAT2 expression is also a predictor of resistance to chemotherapy in pancreatic cancer patients. PLAAT2 siRNA-1 functions through the RNA interference (RNAi) pathway, where it is incorporated into the RNA-induced silencing complex (RISC) to mediate the sequence-specific degradation of PLAAT2 mRNA. This reduction in PLAAT2 protein levels effectively inhibits the oncogenic signaling and metabolic shifts driven by the enzyme, making it a valuable research tool and a potential therapeutic candidate for the treatment of refractory pancreatic malignancies.
