Placebo Rosiglitazone is a pharmacologically inactive substance formulated as a tablet to match the appearance and administration of the active drug rosiglitazone. It was utilized as a control intervention in the SIROCO (Simvastatin and Rosiglitazone in Metabolic Syndrome) clinical trial, a Phase 2/3 study led by the University of Chicago. In this trial, the placebo was administered to patients in the control arm alongside simvastatin (40 mg daily) to evaluate whether the addition of active rosiglitazone (4 mg daily) to a statin regimen provided superior improvements in vascular inflammation and other cardiovascular risk factors in individuals with metabolic syndrome compared to statin monotherapy.
