Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Placebo saline infusion refers to the control arm treatment used in NuvOx LLC's Phase II RESTORE clinical trial for patients with newly-diagnosed glioblastoma multiforme. In this randomized, double-blind study, the saline infusion is administered intravenously immediately prior to standard-of-care radiation therapy and temozolomide. It serves as a pharmacologically inactive comparator to NanO2 (dodecafluoropentane emulsion), an investigational oxygen therapeutic designed to sensitize hypoxic tumors to radiation. The use of a saline placebo ensures the maintenance of the study's blinding while providing a baseline for evaluating the safety and efficacy of the active treatment.
