Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Placebo to mepolizumab (AstraZeneca, EGPA) is the matching control substance used in the MANDARA Phase 3 clinical trial (NCT04157348). This trial was designed to compare the efficacy and safety of benralizumab against mepolizumab in patients with relapsing or refractory eosinophilic granulomatosis with polyangiitis (EGPA) who are receiving standard of care therapy. The placebo consists of a 0.9% sodium chloride solution administered via subcutaneous injection, specifically formulated to match the administration volume and frequency of the active mepolizumab treatment (300 mg dose delivered as three 100 mg injections).
