Overview
Placental Congrong Runtong oral liquid is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) formulation developed by the Beijing Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine for the treatment of functional constipation, specifically the Yang-deficiency type. The formulation contains total glycosides of Cistanche extracted from *Cistanche deserticola* and placental extract (Placenta Hominis). In TCM theory, *Cistanche* tonifies the kidney and moistens the intestines, while the placental component addresses deep-seated systemic deficiencies. The drug aims to improve bowel movement frequency and stool consistency by addressing the underlying 'Yang deficiency' that leads to intestinal sluggishness. It is currently being evaluated in Phase II clinical trials to establish its safety, efficacy, and optimal dosing profile.
