PlantPharm BioMed is developing a plant-based oral malaria vaccine using its proprietary platform technology that transforms plants into 'vaccine factories.' The process involves introducing specific malaria antigens into plant cells, which are then processed into an oral solid dose formulation. This approach is designed to induce protective immune responses through the mucosal system, offering a needle-free alternative to traditional vaccines. A key advantage of this technology is the production of shelf-stable vaccines that do not require cold-chain storage, potentially increasing accessibility in resource-limited settings.
