PlantPharm BioMed meningitis vaccine

PlantPharm BioMed is developing a plant-based oral meningitis vaccine using its proprietary platform technology. This technology involves introducing meningitis-specific antigens into plant cells, which are then grown under controlled conditions and processed into oral solid dose forms such as tablets or capsules. The vaccine is designed to trigger a mucosal immune response by delivering recombinant antigens directly to the gut-associated lymphoid tissue. This approach aims to eliminate the need for needle injections, cold chain storage requirements, and expensive purification processes. The vaccine candidate is currently in the preclinical research and development phase.
