This is an autologous dendritic cell-based cancer vaccine developed by Radboud University Medical Center for the treatment of stage III melanoma. The vaccine is composed of naturally occurring plasmacytoid dendritic cells (pDCs) isolated from the patient's peripheral blood. These cells are activated and loaded ex vivo with melanoma-associated peptide antigens, specifically gp100 and tyrosinase. Following preparation, the vaccine is administered via intranodal injection to stimulate the patient's immune system, specifically aiming to induce tumor-specific CD4+ and CD8+ T-cell responses. In clinical studies (such as NCT02574377), it has been evaluated both as a monotherapy and in combination with myeloid dendritic cells (cDC2s) to improve outcomes in patients with completely resected stage III melanoma.
