**Plasmodium falciparum Chimeric Protein 2.9 - Montanide ISA 720** is an investigational recombinant protein subunit malaria vaccine targeting the asexual blood stage of *Plasmodium falciparum*. Its active antigen, PfCP-2.9, is a single chimeric recombinant protein comprising domain III of *P. falciparum* apical membrane antigen 1 and the C-terminal 19 kDa fragment of merozoite surface protein 1, joined through a peptide hinge. It is formulated with the water-in-oil adjuvant Montanide ISA 720 to enhance antigen-specific immune responses. Vaccination is intended to induce antibodies recognizing native parasite AMA-1 and MSP1 epitopes and inhibiting blood-stage parasite growth and erythrocyte invasion. A Phase 1 study in healthy Chinese adults found the formulation generally safe, tolerable, and immunogenic, including high antigen-specific antibody titers in a subset of vaccine recipients.
