Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Platelet-Rich Fibrin (PRF) is a second-generation autologous platelet concentrate produced from a patient's own blood through a specific centrifugation protocol without the addition of anticoagulants or bovine thrombin. It results in a dense fibrin matrix that traps platelets, leukocytes, and a variety of growth factors and cytokines. These bioactive components are released gradually over time, promoting tissue healing, angiogenesis, and regeneration. In clinical practice, particularly in oral and maxillofacial surgery, PRF is applied locally to surgical sites, such as extraction sockets for impacted third molars, to mitigate postoperative complications including pain and edema and to accelerate the recovery of the surgical site.
