Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) is an autologous biologic therapy prepared by concentrating platelets from a patient's own peripheral blood via centrifugation. This specific preparation is being evaluated by the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) for the treatment of symptomatic knee osteoarthritis.
