Platelet-rich plasma + fibrin glue is a combination of two autologous blood-derived biomaterials used primarily to promote wound healing and tissue regeneration. Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) is a concentrate of platelets suspended in plasma, rich in growth factors that stimulate cell proliferation and tissue repair. Fibrin glue (also called fibrin sealant) is formed by polymerizing concentrated fibrinogen with thrombin and calcium, resulting in a strong clot that provides hemostasis and acts as a scaffold for cell migration. When combined, PRP supplies bioactive growth factors while the fibrin matrix offers structural support at the application site. This combination has been investigated for use in chronic wound healing (such as diabetic foot ulcers), surgical anastomoses, bone grafting procedures, periodontal regeneration, soft tissue repair, orthopedic surgery, and other reconstructive applications[1][2][6]. The product is typically prepared from autologous blood immediately prior to use.
