Platelet-rich plasma and fibrin clot processed with the PRGF-System (Plasma Rich in Growth Factors) is an autologous biologic therapy derived from the patient's own peripheral blood. Developed using proprietary technology from BTI Biotechnology Institute, the system concentrates platelets and growth factors to produce both a liquid platelet-rich plasma fraction and a polymerized fibrin clot. These components are applied intralesionally to promote tissue repair, wound healing, and local immunomodulation. The therapy is currently being investigated in Phase II clinical trials, notably by Fundación FISEVI in Spain, for the treatment of complex perianal fistulas in patients with Crohn's disease. Its mechanism of action involves the local release of endogenous growth factors, including PDGF, TGF-β, VEGF, and EGF, which stimulate cellular proliferation and extracellular matrix synthesis.
