Platinum + Pembrolizumab + Nab-paclitaxel

The combination of platinum (carboplatin or cisplatin) with pembrolizumab and nab-paclitaxel is an immunotherapy-chemotherapy regimen used primarily for the treatment of various cancers, particularly head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC) and non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). This combination therapy works by combining the immune checkpoint inhibitor effects of pembrolizumab with the cytotoxic effects of platinum-based chemotherapy and nab-paclitaxel. Pembrolizumab is a humanized antibody that blocks PD-1 (programmed death receptor-1), enhancing T-cell immune responses against tumor cells[5]. When combined with chemotherapy agents like carboplatin/cisplatin and nab-paclitaxel, it provides a multi-modal approach to cancer treatment. The KN-B10 study confirmed that pembrolizumab combined with carboplatin and paclitaxel has promising effects with manageable safety[1]. Another study demonstrated that carboplatin, nab-paclitaxel, and pembrolizumab form a safe and effective regimen for patients with both squamous and nonsquamous NSCLC[3].
