Platinum-based chemotherapy + taxane-based chemotherapy is a combination cancer treatment regimen consisting of two drug classes: platinum compounds (most commonly cisplatin or carboplatin) and taxane derivatives (most commonly paclitaxel or docetaxel)[1][2][5]. Platinum agents act by covalently binding to DNA, causing DNA cross-linking, which prevents DNA replication and leads to cell death—primarily through apoptosis and cell cycle arrest[4]. Taxanes disrupt microtubule dynamics by stabilizing microtubules, thereby preventing cell division and promoting cell death via mitotic arrest and p53-dependent pathways[2][4]. This synergistic combination is widely used as first-line chemotherapy for multiple advanced solid tumors, including non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC)[1], ovarian cancer[3], and triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC)[2], demonstrating improved response rates and survival compared to other regimens.
