platycodon fluid extract

Platycodon fluid extract is an oral herbal liquid extract derived from the dried roots of *Platycodon grandiflorus* (commonly known as balloon flower or Jie Geng). It is approved in China as a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) liquid extract for the treatment of cough and excess phlegm. The extract contains active triterpenoid saponins, primarily platycodins (such as platycodin D and D3), which exert expectorant and antitussive activities. These saponins stimulate the secretion of respiratory tract mucus, diluting sputum and facilitating its removal, while also reducing airway inflammation.
