Overview

Plazinemdor (formerly known as CAD-9303) is a small molecule drug that acts as a positive allosteric modulator of the N-methyl-D-aspartate (NMDA) receptor. By enhancing NMDA receptor activity, it aims to address synaptic dysfunction implicated in neuropsychiatric and neurological disorders. Plazinemdor was originally developed by Cadent Therapeutics and later acquired by Novartis. Its primary indication has been for the treatment of schizophrenia, specifically targeting negative and cognitive symptoms that are inadequately addressed by current therapies[1][2][3][4]. The drug has undergone phase 1 clinical trials in both healthy volunteers and patients with schizophrenia[5].
