PLCB4 shRNA is a short hairpin RNA (shRNA) designed to silence the expression of phospholipase C beta 4 (PLCB4). In research models of malignant mesothelioma, PLCB4 was identified as a gene up-regulated by the Yes-associated protein (YAP) following Hippo pathway disruption (e.g., NF2 deletion). Silencing PLCB4 using shRNA has been shown to attenuate the growth of YAP-transduced mesothelial cells and Hippo-disrupted mesothelioma cell lines, suggesting that PLCB4 is a critical mediator of YAP-driven cell proliferation and a potential therapeutic target for mesothelioma.
