PLCEP-DLI

PLCEP-DLI (Peripheral Lymphocytes Collected Early Phase Donor Lymphocyte Infusion) is an adoptive cellular therapy protocol developed for patients undergoing cord blood transplantation (CBT). In the context of CBT, traditional donor lymphocyte infusion (DLI) is often unfeasible because the original donor lymphocytes are typically unavailable. PLCEP-DLI addresses this by collecting peripheral lymphocytes from the recipient during the early phase post-transplant, a period when these cells still retain the allo-reactive potential of the cord blood graft. These harvested cells are stored and can be subsequently infused to treat complications such as persistent immune thrombocytopenia or to provide a graft-versus-leukemia effect. A case report presented at ASH 2024 showed that PLCEP-DLI effectively corrected refractory immune thrombocytopenia in a pediatric patient following a dual haploidentical and cord blood transplant.
