Overview

PLEB001 is a cell therapy product consisting of human umbilical cord-derived mesenchymal stem cells (hUC-MSCs). It is being developed by The First Medical Center of the PLA General Hospital for the treatment of grade II to IV steroid-refractory acute graft-versus-host disease (aGVHD). Mesenchymal stem cells are characterized by their ability to modulate the immune system, primarily through the inhibition of T-cell proliferation, the induction of regulatory T cells, and the alteration of cytokine secretion profiles. PLEB001 aims to reduce the severe systemic inflammation and tissue damage associated with aGVHD in patients who have failed to respond to standard corticosteroid therapy.
